High School Division Spring Bouldering League

Join Adventure Rock for an action packed 4 weeks of league climbing at WKP! You may register a team of 3 climbers. Don't have a team? No problem, register as an individual and we will find a team for you. Same goes for partial teams, sign up and we'll make you whole. Enjoy fresh boulders, weekly prizes, and unlimited stoke at this years Boulder League! This league is for high school students aged 18 and younger.

The bouldering league is a recurring, multi-week climbing competition designed to encourage participation and community engagement.

4 weeks long

Thursday nights 5:30pm-7:30pm

Teams are made up of three climbers. All team members must be registered for the league.

Teams are responsible for finding their own replacement climbers if a member can’t attend.

Climbers may also sign up as individuals and be assigned to a team at the start of the season.

Eligibility & Registration

The high school boulder league is for climbers of all abilities. A team may be made up of climbers of any level. Everyone will compete in the same category.
All climbers must be of high school age to participate. Climbers do not have to be part of a high school team to participate.

Rules

Starts will be marked with four pieces of tape. Climbers must start with either a hand or foot on all four pieces of tape.

Finishes will be marked with a piece of tape and a tag that says “TOP”. Climbers must put both hands on the top hold (i.e. match finish) to complete a climb.

To get points for climbing a boulder, a climber must start at the start position, use only allowed holds/volumes, and match the finish hold.

Climbs will be set with only one color, but volumes and wall features are on for all climbs.

Climbers may attempt climbs as many times as they like, but must record every attempt on their scorecard, even if they don’t get beyond the start.

Every attempt must begin from the start. No working moves.

If another climber gets in your way during an attempt, you may redo that attempt without penalty. Climbers that are higher up on the wall have the right of way.

Bouldering league is meant for friendly competition and as a space for our community to connect with other climbers. The league operates on an honor system, and unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated. Be nice, log all attempts honestly, start from the start, and only use the holds allowed.

Scoring

Each week, league members will be the first to climb on a brand-new set of boulders.

Boulders will be awarded points in ascending order of difficulty, and climbers will have two hours to send as many boulders as possible.

Climbers will get a flash bonus if they send a boulder on their first attempt.

Each boulder will have a Zone hold. Controlling a Zone will earn points regardless of the climber sending the boulder.

A climber’s individual score will be the sum of the points from all the boulders that they send.

Ties will be broken by the number of attempts on boulders a climber completed.

A team’s score will be the average of all team members’ individual scores. Ties will be broken by the number of attempts on boulders completed by the team.

Prizes will be awarded weekly for first and last place teams.

Season winners will be crowned for the High School Division on the last Thursday of the league. A team’s season score will be their cumulative team score from all 4 weeks.
