This course is designed for climbers ready to move beyond top-roping and explore the world of indoor lead climbing. In lead climbing, you tie the rope to your harness and clip it into protection points (quickdraws) as you ascend the wall—giving you more freedom, responsibility, and risk. Learn how to lead climb and lead belay safely and effectively and you will gain access to areas of the gym not available via auto belay or top rope systems.
Our certified Climbing Wall Instructors will guide you through key techniques including clipping, rope management, fall dynamics, and lead-specific communication. You'll gain hands-on experience with both taking and catching lead falls in a controlled setting, building confidence and technical proficiency.
What you'll learn:
Safe lead belaying and braking techniques
Clipping methods and rope handling
Fall dynamics and how to catch a lead fall
Risk management and lead climbing etiquette
This course is ideal for climbers who already feel comfortable on top rope and are looking to expand their skills.
